THE MARKS

HUMANS LEAVE

WRITTEN BY ADEN CARROLL

About Author

Aden Carroll is a poet and writer from rural Arkansas who grew up with a roaming imagination and passion for language. Raised by a literature teacher and surrounded by books, she began writing at the age of twelve when read the “The Captain’s Verses” by Pablo Neruda. Among the dusty turnrows and fields of cotton, she developed a longing to write, a deep seeded Southern sarcasm, and a mouth like a drunken sailor.

Aden has always been captivated by the notion of taking life and putting it to paper. She finds magic and purpose in the arrangement of words that highlight the commonalities of the human experience. When Aden isn’t working as a registered nurse, she’s scribbling raw, real, and relatable poetry. “The Marks Human’s Leave” touches on love, trauma, grief, femininity, the cost of leaving damaged things behind, and the broken roads we must walk to find ourselves again.

The Marks Humans Leave

By Aden Carroll

"The Marks Humans Leave" is a compelling collection of poems that delves into love, trauma, grief, hope, divorce, and healing. This collection reflects upon the impact we all have on each other’s lives and the marks we leave upon one another in this dance of humanity. They depict the often messy and emotional reality of the human condition, and the difficulties we must overcome to find ourselves again. These poems demonstrate the magic of what happens when ink meets emotion along the edge of the river.
